Rockhampton Regional Council has unveiled a major enhancement of Mount Morgan's ANZAC Park memorial, improving accessibility for remembrance services and creating an appealing green space for community reflection.
The $340,000 council funded project has delivered a new concrete all abilities access ramp and staircase, as well as sandstone seating, appealing landscaping and improved drainage at the park.
The upgrades, completed in time for Remembrance Day services, were developed in consultation with the Mount Morgan RSL and will preserve ANZAC Park's heritage and support increased community use.
These works complement an earlier restoration project completed just prior to ANZAC Day which included the restoration of a FH13 German Howitzer and 95mm Smoothbore Turkish gun, and the construction of durable shelters to protect them into the future.
