New Additions Revealed at Traralgon Rec Reserve

Latrobe City Council has officially opened the Traralgon Recreation Reserve Multiuse Pavilion, a major milestone of the Traralgon Flood Recovery Project.

Delivered in response to the 2021 flood event, the new pavilion includes a social space, kitchen and canteen, media and timekeepers' rooms, changerooms for players and umpires, first aid and trainers' rooms, a dedicated boxing gym, tiered seating and public amenities.

This project was made possible by funding contributions from the Federal Government Local Roads Community Infrastructure program ($1.7 million), Sport and Recreation Victoria's Local Community Sport and Recreation Projects ($2.75 million) and Latrobe City Council ($3.4 million).

The development and construction of the pavilion was guided by the Project Reference Group, consisting of members from Ex Students Cricket Club Ex Students Cricket Club, Traralgon Boxing Club, Traralgon Football Netball Club, lead contractor Langden Constructions and lead architect Brand Architecture.

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson said the project has delivered an outcome for the community that addresses most of the different clubs' asks.

"While we all would have liked more in the final outcome, we have achieved the very best with the available budget," the Mayor said.

"It is really heartening to see how everybody worked together after the 2021 flood event to now be able to have a modern, flood-resilient and multiuse facility that the whole community can use and enjoy for many years to come.

"It is the start of a new chapter for all the clubs, and I know many will be going down and watching some games from the new undercover seating area."
