New Chair for East Metropolitan Health Service

  • Pia Turcinov is the new Chair of WA's East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS)
  • She was first appointed to the EMHS board in 2020
  • Ms Turcinov replaces outgoing Chair Ian Smith, PSM

Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson today announced the appointment of Pia Turcinov as Chair of the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) Board - effective 1 January 2023.

Ms Turcinov has qualifications in law and business management and more than 25 years' experience in commercialising technological innovations, promoting entrepreneurship, technology, and diversity.

In addition to her EMHS Board role, Ms Turcinov is a member of Edith Cowan University's Governing Council, and a former member of the Landgate Board.

Ms Turcinov was first appointed to the EMHS Board as a member on 1 July 2020, then reappointed and designated Deputy Chair on 1 July 2022.

As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

"I congratulate Pia on her appointment as Chair and welcome her ongoing leadership to the East Metropolitan Health Service Board.

"Pia brings valuable expertise across a diverse range of fields - from information technology and business development to women's network organisations - knowledge that will continue to benefit the functions of the Board.

"I thank outgoing Chair Ian Smith, who was appointed as the inaugural Chair of the EMHS Board in 2016 and has served in this role for 6.5 years.

"I wish him well in his future endeavours."
