New electromagnetic survey boost for WA exploration

The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA (CME) welcomes the announcement of completion of the largest survey of airborne electromagnetic data across all of Western Australia.

The mapping program was made possible through the Geoscience Australia's Exploring for the Future program and the Western Australian Government's Exploration Incentive Scheme, led by the Geological Survey of Western Australia.

"CME and its member companies welcome continued support from the Federal and State governments to ensure WA can maintain its place as the world's pre-eminent resources province," CME CEO Rebecca Tomkinson said.

"Exploration is fundamental for the resources sector and access to data is the basis for that. This survey also supports ongoing innovation in data collections to ensure greater knowledge for industry and government.

"Exploration and the resources projects that follow it underpin vital investment in Australia, particularly in regional areas. Ongoing support and funding from government is important in encouraging innovative approaches to exploration, as well as the ability to enable broad access to data."
