The tender for the new pavilion at Deledio Recreation Reserve has been awarded to MKM Building Group Pty Ltd.
The contract follows a public tender process and was approved at an Ordinary Meeting of Council on Wednesday 22 April.
The new pavilion will replace the existing 1977 facility, which has reached the end of its useful life and no longer meets contemporary standards for safety, accessibility or functionality.
Deledio Recreation Reserve is a key community asset used by sporting clubs, schools, CFA and community groups, and also serves as an emergency staging area.
Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Ben Green said the awarding of the tender represents a significant milestone for the project, following more than two decades of community advocacy.
"With the current facilities well beyond useability, the Dunolly community has worked tirelessly over many years to secure upgraded clubrooms.
"Council has partnered closely with the Deledio Pavilion Reference Group to shape the concept design and advocate for the funding needed to bring this project to life.
"I also want to acknowledge the sustained efforts of Ward Councillor and former Mayor Cr Liesbeth Long, whose leadership has helped guide this project to this point.
"Together, we secured $1.5 million from the Federal Government and $1 million from the Victorian Government's Regional Community Sports and Infrastructure Program, with Council contributing a further $500,000.
"Our vision is to deliver a modern, accessible facility that genuinely benefits the entire community. We look forward to seeing the upgraded pavilion support the wider Dunolly district for many years to come."
The new facility will deliver modern, inclusive and accessible changerooms, amenities, social spaces and compliant kitchen facilities, and will be positioned closer to the netball courts to improve access for all users.
Although the tender originally sought a modular pavilion, the preferred contractor proposed a non‑modular construction method, which will meet functional requirements, funding conditions and project outcomes.
Construction is expected to commence in the second half of 2026.
