Improving access to early education, regardless of where Tasmanian children live or their family circumstance, continues to be a priority for the Rockliff Liberal Government.
Education, Children and Youth Minister Roger Jaensch said the Government was progressing work to achieve universal access to early learning for all three-year-olds in Tasmania.
"We know early learning gives children the best possible start in life and we are proud to support our youngest learners on this lifelong journey," Minister Jaensch said.
"We will co-design our universal access to early learning with parents, community members and service providers, with workshops commencing next week as a first step in this process.
"These workshops are an opportunity for families and stakeholders to have a say on the future of quality and affordable early learning for three year olds."
A Co-Design Planning Group has been established to provide advice and support throughout the process.
Since January, the Group has been communicating with the Early Childhood Education and Care providers to establish how to best engage with all stakeholders including families and local communities.
"I would like to thank the Planning Group's chairs, Ros Cornish and Jenny Burgess, and members from Early Childhood Australia, the Australian Childcare Alliance, Independent Schools Tasmania, Catholic Education Tasmania and Family Day Care, for their ongoing work," Minister Jaensch said.
"The Rockliff Liberal Government recognises the foundation of a strong economy and caring community is education.
"We will continue to work collaboratively with stakeholders such as Early Childhood Education and Care providers to ensure we understand local community needs."
