Next Step Towards Chisholm TAFE'S New Frankston Campus

VIC Premier

Architecture firm Gray Puksand has been appointed to design the Victorian Government's new world-class facility at Chisholm TAFE as part of its Frankston campus redevelopment.

The $67.6 million project will revitalise the learning experience for students in Melbourne's south-east, with Gray Puksand to design a multi-level facility that replaces two of the oldest buildings and integrates with the $85 million Frankston Learning and Innovation Precinct, funded by the Government and completed in 2019.

The new facility will feature bespoke spaces that respond to the most popular courses like community services, technology, cyber security, art and design and sport and recreation. It will also accommodate the delivery of Foundation College courses as well as a public gallery and food and retail spaces.

Works will begin early next year and finish in 2023, with more than 130 jobs created in construction and teaching.

Since 2014, the Government has made a record $3.2 billion investment to rebuild TAFE and support universities and higher education to ensure Victorians have access to high quality education and rewarding career pathways.

The Victorian Budget 2021/22 includes a $383.8 million investment in the sector to ensure more Victorians get the training they need for in-demand jobs.

As stated by Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney

"This project is one of the great outcomes of our record investment in the TAFE system - which is supporting jobseekers, employers and the Victorian economy as we emerge from the coronavirus pandemic."

As stated by Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke

"It's exciting to watch the continued revitalisation of Chisholm in Frankston - which is fast becoming a world-class campus for students looking for training that is relevant to Victoria's most exciting jobs."

As stated by Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny

"The redevelopment of Chisholm in Frankston is changing the fabric of the local community - not just through the many great training and job opportunities but also state-of-the-art facilities and increased public spaces."

As stated by Chisholm Institute's Director and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Varty

"More students want to study at Chisholm than ever before - which is why we're working to enhance the on-campus community and learning facilities."
