Twelve new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8.00pm last night, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,595. One previously reported case has been excluded.

Today, NSW passed another testing milestone. More than 1.5 million COVID tests have now been administered across the state since the start of the pandemic around six months ago. There were 22,427 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 23,458 in the previous 24 hours.
As reported yesterday, an 83-year-old man who had COVID-19 sadly passed away yesterday morning, taking the total number of deaths in NSW from confirmed COVID-19 cases to 52.
Of the 12 new cases reported to 8 pm last night:
- One case is a traveller in hotel quarantine
- Three cases attended the Apollo restaurant on 25 July
- Two cases attended the Mounties Club in Mount Pritchard on 23 July
- Five cases are close contacts of known cases
- One case is locally acquired with no known source identified.
One case attended the Advance Early Learning childcare centre in Merrylands while infectious on 27, 28 and 29 July 2020. A second case has been reported this morning. The centre is currently closed for cleaning and close contact tracing is underway.
One case counted in yesterday's numbers attended the Toronto Court House (Toronto Drug Court) on Monday, 27 July. As a precaution, cleaning of the courthouse will take place today. All close contacts have been identified and being contacted this morning. As a precaution, anyone who attended the Toronto Court House between 7am and 2pm on Monday, 27 July should watch for any symptoms and should even mild symptoms develop, they must self-isolate and seek urgent testing for COVID-19.
One case attended Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL on Monday 27 July from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Patrons and staff of the Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL who attended at the same time should monitor for symptoms and if symptoms develop, seek testing and isolate themselves pending the test results.
One case attended Neeta Shopping Centre in Fairfield on number of times between 23 July and 30 July, including the Soul Pattinson Chemist, Woolworths and Fresco Juice Bar. While the risk to others is thought low, anyone who visited the shopping centre on these days should to monitor for symptoms and if symptoms develop, seek testing and isolate themselves pending the test results.

There are now:
- 98 cases associated with Thai Rock Wetherill Park cluster
- 58 cases associated with the Crossroads Hotel cluster
- 33 cases associated with the funeral events in Bankstown and surrounding suburbs cluster including nine associated with Mounties in Mount Pritchard.
- 24 cases associated with the Potts Point cluster, including 18 cases linked to the Apollo Restaurant cluster and 6 cases are now linked with the Thai Rock Restaurant Potts Point cluster (2 cases attended both).
It has now been more than 14 days since the last case associated with the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club. Eight cases were associated with the cluster.
While most cases in the past week have been associated with local clusters and close contact with known cases, seven in the last week have not been able to be linked to known cases. These unlinked cases have been in people from South Western, Western Sydney, South Eastern Sydney and Sydney LHDs.
It is extremely important that we all keep our families and loved ones safe. To help stop the spread of COVID-19:
- If you are unwell, stay in, get tested and isolate.
- Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out.
- Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others.
- Wear a mask in situations where you cannot physically distance.

Anyone directed to undertake a 14-day self-isolation period must stay in isolation for the full period, even if they test negative. This is because early testing may not detect an infection, and release from self-isolation based on a negative test could allow an infectious person to infect others in the community. The self-isolation period is 14 days as most people who are infected and develop symptoms will do so within 14 days of infection.
There are 107 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. Nine people were in intensive care and four were ventilated as of 8pm last night. Eighty eight per cent of cases are in non-acute, out‑of‑hospital care.
