The Territory Labor Government is supporting three NT artists to attend arts residencies as part of its 2021-22 NT Arts and Culture Grants Program.
The Creative Fellowships and Arts Residencies grants will assist the artists from Darwin and Alice Springs to undertake research, professional development, and skills and knowledge exchange to benefit their own professional practice and the development of the arts, culture and creative industries in the Northern Territory.
Funding awarded will support residencies in theatre, visual arts and crafts, and community arts and cultural development.
Successful applicants are:
Darwin-based artist Alyson De Groot - $20,000 for Beneath the Surface - Art Meets Natural Science at MAGNT, 2022 to develop new work informed by the museum's plant and animal specimen collection with an emphasis on the importance of the preservation and protection of marine life and eco systems.Alice Springs-based artist Kelly Lee Hickey - $20,000 for an artist-in-residence project at Araluen Arts Centre to develop a set of community-engaged experiences that focus on reading, walking and art-making.Darwin-based artist Kyle Walmsley - $15,000 for a residency with Tracks Dance to explore cross-disciplinary practise such as dance and visual drama involving works of scale with community that can be applied to theatre.
Applications were assessed by an Arts Peer Assessment Panel with specialised art form and arts sector knowledge, experience and expertise.
