Three stolen vehicles spotted speeding through the streets of Clevedon went no further after Police got involved.
Just before 3.30am this morning, three vehicle travelling in tandem along Maraetai Coast Road caught the attention of the Police Eagle helicopter.
Senior Sergeant Simon Cornish, of Counties Manukau East Police, says the vehicles, two Nissan Tiidas and a Toyota Premio, were quickly confirmed as stolen.
"Officers on the ground swiftly put down spikes along Maraetai Coast Road, which all three vehicles drove over.
"One of the Nissans and the Toyota came to a stop a short time later and four people were taken into custody."
Senior Sergeant Cornish says the last remaining vehicle continued driving through to Clevedon township towards Papakura, and was spiked again.
"The driver has continued on until all tyres were obliterated and undrivable.
"Police have then quickly taken the two occupants into custody.
"These youths are lucky that their driving didn't end in serious injuries - for themselves or any other members of the public."
Six people, aged between 13 and 16, have been referred to Youth Aid Services.
