Officers appointed to commissioned ranks

On Friday, February 19, Commissioner Katarina Carroll presented the newest commissioned officers of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) with their appointment certificates and epaulettes adorned with their respective new insignias.

Within the QPS, ranks of Inspector and above are classed as commissioned.

Officers may become commissioned after demonstrating excellence across a variety of roles and capabilities in both operational and corporate areas of the organisation.

In total, one deputy commissioner, four assistant commissioners, five chief superintendents and seven superintendents celebrated their appointments today.

Commissioner Carroll said each of the officers being appointed had raised the benchmark for the organisation.

"Each of these officers have demonstrated a commitment to the organisation and community which has led to their appointment today" she said.

"As we continue to strive to improve our service delivery throughout the state, the appointment of these officers, with their diverse range of skills and experiences, will serve the organisation and our community well into the future.

"I wish to congratulate all the recipients and thank them for their many years of loyal and dedicated service."

The following officers were appointed:

Deputy Commissioner Paul Taylor – Regional Queensland

Assistant Commissioner Kevin Guteridge – Central Region

Assistant Commissioner Cheryl Scanlon – Ethical Standards Command

Assistant Commissioner Charysse Pond – People Capability Command

Assistant Commissioner Ben Marcus- Road Policing Command and Regional Support

Chief Superintendent Steve Dabinett – North Brisbane District

Chief Superintendent Willian Graham – South Brisbane District

Chief Superintendent Darryl Johnson – Crime & Corruption Commission

Chief Superintendent Virginia Nelson – Ethical Standards Command

Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler – Gold Coast District

Superintendent Cecilia Vine – People Capability Command

Superintendent Stephen Loth – Operations Commander

Superintendent Colin Briggs – Operations Command, Drug and Serious Crime Group

Superintendent Keiryn Dermody – Command, Protective Services Group

Superintendent Garrath Channells- Southern Region

Superintendent Lance Vercoe – Crime and Intelligence Command

Superintendent Brendan Smith – South Eastern Region
