Patrol Dog (PD) Obi had his paws on the beat recently, apprehending offenders two Thursdays running in Alice Springs.
Around 8pm on Thursday 10 September, a patrolling police unit was notified of an alleged domestic violence assault that had occurred earlier in Ilparpa.
Upon sighting the police unit, the 35-year-old male offender allegedly ran into the Todd River off South Terrace near the Gap.
PD Obi was deployed and commenced a search of the area during which he located the male hiding in the river in long grass.
The 35-year-old was arrested and later charged with Aggravated Assault and Breach DVO and appeared in court on 11 September.
Around 9pm last night, Thursday 17 September, a vehicle that had been involved in a disturbance in Braitling failed to stop for police, with tyre deflation devices being successfully deployed on the vehicle as it travelled north on the Stuart Highway.
A police pursuit was initiated but subsequently terminated due to the dangerous manner of driving by the vehicle of interest. Police located the vehicle abandoned a short time later and PD Obi did what he does best and put his nose to work.
The 23-year-old female offender was tracked and located hiding in bushland by PD Obi. She was later charged with Dangerous Drive During Pursuit, Drive Medium Range BAC and Drive Unlicenced. She is due to appear in court today.
