Police arrest man after drugs and gun found in northern suburbs

A man has been arrested after illegal drugs were found in his car at Smithfield.

It will be alleged that about 12.45am today (Monday 31 August) police and ambulance crews were called to a service station car park on Main North Road after reports that a man was unconscious in his car.

After several attempts to wake him up, the 35-year-old Craigmore man regained consciousness and got out of the car to speak with police.

A subsequent search of the car uncovered various amounts of substances believed to be fantasy, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.

Police then went to the man's home address and searched the property, uncovering more amounts of fantasy, cash, an air rifle and ammunition.

He was charged with trafficking a controlled drug, possess firearm without a licence and other offences. He was refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
