Police arrest man after erratic driving

Prahran police arrested a man following reports of an erratic driver in South Yarra last night.

A number of calls to Triple Zero (000) were received reporting a black VW golf driving erratically on Chapel Street just before 1am.

It was also reported that the vehicle's driver was allegedly alcohol affected as he drove through South Yarra.

One of the callers stayed on the line to Triple Zero and directed police to the male who was located inside his vehicle on Chapel Street in nearby Prahran.

The 37-year-old Narre Warren man got out of his car and was reportedly pacing around the car before officers arrested him for drunk in a public place.

The man also refused to undergo a breath test and was subsequently lodged for drunk.

He was released from custody and issued with a penalty notice for drunk and is also expected to be charged on summons with driving an unregistered vehicle, refuse breath test and other traffic related offences.
