Five people have been charged after a man was allegedly stabbed during a brawl in Sydney's south west overnight.
Just after 1am (Saturday 30 January 2021), emergency services were called to a licenced premises on Chapel Road, Bankstown, following reports of a stabbing.
Police have been told two large groups of people were involved in a brawl inside the venue, before some involved fled the scene.
A short time later, a 25-year-old man presented at Bankstown Hospital suffering a stab wound to his stomach and a head injury. He has since undergone surgery and remains in a stable condition.
Two male employees sustained minor lacerations while attempting to disperse the brawl.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command arrested a 33-year-old Castle Hill woman and four men – aged 18, 19, 29, and 32 – at the scene.
They were taken to Bankstown Police Station where they were all charged with affray.
The 32-year-old Cabramatta man was also charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
The 18-year-old Cabramatta man and 29-year-old Fairfield West man were also charged with possess prohibited drug.
All five were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 31 January 2021).
