Police charge man after fatal stabbing - Mascot

A man will appear in court today charged following the alleged fatal stabbing of a woman in Sydney's south yesterday.

About 6.10pm (Sunday 9 April 2023), emergency services were called to a unit on Church Avenue, Mascot, following reports of a domestic-related incident.

Upon arrival, the body of a woman was found with multiple stab wounds.

She is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 59.

Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command spoke to a 61-year-old man, before he was arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station.

A crime scene was established, which is being examined by specialist forensic police, and an investigation into the incident commenced.

Following inquiries, detectives charged the man with murder. He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Monday 10 April 2023).

The man and woman were known to each other.
