Police charge man after firearms and cannabis seized - Murray River

A man has been charged after firearms and drugs were seized from a home in the state's Murray River region last week.

About 8.30am on Thursday 1 July 2021, officers attached to Murray River Police District attended a business on Mate Street, Lavington, and spoke to the occupant.

During a search, officers allegedly located a single barrel 12-gauge shotgun concealed in a roll of foam, as well as ammunition.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at a home on Hague Street, with officers locating a rifle, three replica pistols, a double-edged bayonet knife, ammunition and cannabis.

All items have been seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, a 50-year-old man was arrested after attending Albury Police Station about 9.30am yesterday (Tuesday 6 July 2021).

He was issued a court attendance notice for 11 offences including, two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of not keep firearm safely, possess or use prohibited weapon without a permit, and possess prohibited drug.

He is due to appear in Albury Local Court on Tuesday 7 September 2021.
