Police charge man after Melton South assault

Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged assault in Melton South last week.

It is alleged the 26-year-old assaulted a man working as a camera operator on Fraser Street on Monday, 15 May.

The male camera operator sustained non-life-threatening injuries and the man fled the scene.

Police responded to a collision in Bentleigh East this afternoon.

An allegedly stolen vehicle crashed into another car on Bignell Road about 3.40pm.

The 26-year-old Melton man was arrested at the scene.

He's been charged with:

- Assault

- Intentionally causing injury

- Possessing Methamphetamine

- Possess prescription medication without prescription

- Possess GBH

- Possess prohibited weapon

- Theft of motor vehicle

- Deal with property suspected of being proceeds of crime x2

- Disqualified driving

- Careless driving

- Driving whist exceeding the prescribed concentration of drugs

He was remanded in custody to appear at Moorabbin Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
