Police charge man after Portland incident

Portland Crime Investigation Unit detectives continue to investigate an alleged serious assault which occurred in Portland on Wednesday 24 August.

Investigators were called to an address on Blackwood Court on 24 August around 1.20am after reports of a serious assault.

A 32-year-old Portland man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A 46-year-old Portland man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 32-year-old Craigieburn man was taken to hospital with lacerations to his head and neck.

The Craigieburn man has since been charged with home invasion, intentionally causing serious injury, assault with a weapon and other offences.

He has been remanded to appear at Portland Magistrates' Court on 25 November.

Investigators believe a second offender was also involved in the assault and have released a computer generated image of a person they believe can assist them with their investigations.

He is described as being in his 20s, stocky build and was wearing a yellow jumper, shorts and cap at the time of the incident.
