Police charge man over historical indecent assault

Special Crime Squad – Serious Crime and Family Violence detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident that occurred in Fitzroy Crossing in 2005.

It is alleged the man who was 15-years-old at the time of the offence, indecently assaulted a 50-year-old woman on 3 September 2005, as she walked along the Fitzroy River.

On 20 May 2021, detectives travelled to Broome and arrested the man.

The now 31-year old man from Broome has been charged with:-

• Three counts of Unlawful and Indecent Assault;

• Three counts of Indecent Act with Intent to Insult or Offend any Person; and

• One count of Common Assault.

He is due to appear before the Broome Children's Court on 18 June 2021.
