A man is due to face court after at least six houses were broken into and two houses were trespassed in the state's west.
Just after 10am today (Thursday 16 April 2026), police were called to a home on Tink Avenue, Dubbo, following reports of a vehicle theft.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were told a woman had parked her Black Ute on the street before an unknown man stole the car and left the scene.
A crime scene has been established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
Initial inquiries have led police to allege the incident is linked to multiple break and enter offences in Dubbo area between Sunday 26 March 2026 and Thursday 16 April 2026.
At least five homes on Brisbane Street, Darling Street, Bishop Street, Sterling Street, Jubilee Street were broken into and two houses on Hunter Street were trespassed by an unknown man before the home on Tink Avenue was broken into.
Following inquiries, 11.50am on the same day, police arrested a 25-year-old man on Boundary Road, Dubbo, before police located and seized the black Ute on High Street, Dubbo, about 1.45pm.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent (two counts), larceny, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse (three counts), breach of bail, break and enter house etc destroy etc property less than or equal to $60,000 (two counts), possess prohibited drug (two counts), possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 4 tomorrow (Friday 17 April 2026).
