Police Charge Man With Multiple Offences At Gold Coast 13 May

Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man with 19 offences following an arrest at Southport on 6 May.

The arrest forms part of ongoing proactive policing activities under Operation Forge, a state-wide initiative targeting property crime and serious repeat offenders.

Around 9am, police were conducting enquiries in relation to a man, allegedly linked to multiple property offences across the Gold Coast, when officers located a stolen vehicle with false registration plates at Broadwater Parklands.

Following coordinated investigations, detectives located the man allegedly hiding inside public toilets, where he was taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the man's belongings, police allegedly located stolen bank cards, vehicle keys and drug utensils.

Police will further allege a search of the vehicle located one stolen tyre and rim fitted to the vehicle, along with three additional stolen tyres and rims in the boot.

It will be alleged the man entered a dealership on High Street, on 2 May, and stole four rims and tyres valued at more than $14,000.

A 29-year-old Southport man has been charged with three counts each of enter premises and commit indictable offence and learning to drive must be properly supervised - motor vehicles other than motorbikes, two counts each of vehicles used on roads must be registered, receiving tainted property and fraud, and one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, wilful damage of police property, dangerous operation of a vehicle, wilful damage, vehicles used on roads must be registered and fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe.

He is due to reappear at Southport Magistrates Court on 21 May.

Operation Yankee Forge is a six-month, district-led, statewide initiative targeting high-harm and high-volume offences, including unlawful use of motor vehicles, unlawful entry and robbery.
