Police investigate bakery hit-run in Thornbury

Police are investigating a hit-run collision in Thornbury overnight leaving a High Street shop damaged.

Emergency services were called to reports a car crashed into a bakery on the corner of High Street and Clarendon Street just after midnight.

Investigators have been told a white Toyota Corolla travelling south on High Street ran the red light at the intersection of Clarendon Street.

The offending vehicle hit another white Corolla travelling east on Clarendon, forcing it off road.

The victim's vehicle crashed into the front window of the shop, causing significant damage.

The offending vehicle continued about 400 meters along Clarendon Street, where it came to a stop.

Witnesses told police two male occupants of the Corolla ditched the car and took off on foot.

Police located the abandoned Corolla but after extensive patrols of the area, the occupants were not able to be found.

The driver and passenger of the victim's vehicle were not injured.

Investigations in relation to the incident remain ongoing.
