Police lay charges after Hawthorn armed robbery

Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two teenagers following an alleged armed robbery in Hawthorn earlier this month.

It is alleged a group of five teenagers were approached by several males at Glenferrie Oval on Linda Crescent on 1 September about 7.15pm.

Police were told two of the males allegedly threatened the group with knives, before stealing their mobile phones, cash and ID's.

The males allegedly fled the scene on foot towards Glenferrie Road.

No one was physically injured.

Over the past two days, detectives have executed search warrants at properties in Mickleham, Malvern East, Oakleigh South, Albert Park, and Mill Park.

A 14-year-old Mickleham boy has been charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment and bail offences.

He has been remanded to appear before a children's court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Malvern East boy has been charged with armed robbery and false imprisonment and was bailed to appear before a children's court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Albert Park boy has been released pending summons.

The investigation remains ongoing.
