Police lay charges after series of thefts in Ballarat

Detectives from Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man in regard to thefts from motor vehicles and burglaries in the Ballarat area.

It is alleged the offences took place between Saturday 3 July and Sunday 4 July throughout the Ballarat area including six vehicles broken into at the one car park on Enterprise Grove in Mount Helen.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested with the assistance of the Divisional Response Unit following the execution of a search warrant yesterday.

A large amount of allegedly stolen property including a firearm have been seized.

The Mount Pleasant man has been charged with 37 offences including theft, aggravated burglary and possessing a category a firearm.

He was remanded overnight to appear in Ballarat Magistrates' Court today.

The investigation remains ongoing and police expect to make further arrests in the coming days.
