Police lay charges - Domestic violence in Alice Springs 22 August

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to domestic violence offences in Alice Springs last week.

At around 10:30pm on Thursday 18 August, police received reports that a 41-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a 42-year-old woman in Undoolya.

He then allegedly assaulted a 54-year-old woman with a blunt weapon before assaulting another 41-year-old man.

All the victims were known to the man and were treated at Alice Springs Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was arrested at the scene and detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch have since charged him with:

  • Unlawfully cause serious harm
  • Recklessly endangering serious harm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Engage In conduct that contravenes DVO

He was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

Detective Acting Sergeant James Hiley said, "This was a particularly violent incident and police would urge anyone experiencing domestic or family violence to reach out on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000."
