Police make arrest over unlawful entry - Karama

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 16-year-old male following an unlawful entry in Karama yesterday.

During the early hours, police will allege the male attempted to enter a commercial business in Karma. While inside, the youth filled a cardboard box with spirit bottles however, when leaving the scene he dropped the box causing the bottles to smash.

Security on site confronted the offender, who armed himself with one of the broken bottles, threatening the security before fleeing the scene.

Strike Force Trident took carriage of the incident and identified the youth involved. He was later arrested in Malak and taken to Palmerston Watch House, where he was charged with:

  • Damage to property
  • Unlawful entry - building
  • Stealing
  • Assault with intent to steal

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said "The youth involved is well known to police for other serious offences. It is not acceptable that business owners and residents are experiencing this type of reoffending and police will continue to locate and arrest these offenders."
