Police make arrest - Property offending - Greater Darwin Region

Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths in relation to property offences in the Greater Darwin Region.

It is alleged that during the evening of Monday 24 October, the pair were roaming the streets in Nightcliff before unlawfully entering a residence on Nightcliff Road. They stole a number of personal items including the keys to a grey Toyota Camry before driving off with the vehicle.

Between the hours of 3:00am and 6:30am, the vehicle was seen driving around Darwin and Palmerston, stopping at a fuel station in Malak.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident commenced investigations, locating both youths in possession of stolen property before subsequently arresting them.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said "Police were able to live track one of the offenders through his electronic monitoring device, leading to a quick arrest."

A 17-year-old was charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Aggravated unlawful entry - dwelling
  • Stealing x 2
  • Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
  • Serious breach of bail

A 13-year-old was charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Aggravated unlawful entry - dwelling
  • Stealing x 2
  • Serious breach of bail

Both were remanded to appear before court today.
