Police officer injured in Melton

Police continue to search for a vehicle involved in the ramming of a police vehicle in Melton on 5 September.

A patrolling police unit observed a vehicle without number plates and followed it to a driveway on Henry Street just after 1.30pm.

Police parked behind the suspect vehicle and the members got out to speak to the driver when he reversed into the police car and then drove forward, pinning a first constable against another parked vehicle.

The offending vehicle fled the scene.

The police officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A female passenger from the offending vehicle was taken into custody at the scene but has since been released pending further enquiries.

The vehicle is yet to be located at this stage.
