Police Transport Command Launches Rail Network Operation

Officers from the Police Transport Command have concluded a two-day policing operation arresting offenders wanted for violent and sexual offences committed on the rail network as part of Operation Savete.

Commencing on Wednesday (20 May 2026) and concluding yesterday (Thursday 21 May 2026) 100 officers were deployed across the state arresting 101 individuals.

Incidents of note include:

  • a 13-year-old girl was arrested at a home in Waterloo last Wednesday (20 May 2026) for allegedly assaulting several persons at Town Hall Railway Station at 2am last Saturday (16 May 2026). She was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with affray where she was granted conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Monday 1 June 2026.
  • last Sunday (17 May 2026) a 16-year-old boy was allegedly robbed at Blacktown Railway Station. Following extensive inquiries officers arrested a 15-year-old boy at a house in Tregear last Wednesday (20 May 2026). The boy was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with assault with intent to rob and given conditional bail. The boy is due to appear at a children's court on Monday (25 May 2026).
  • officers commenced an investigation after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly kissed and touched by a man not known to her on Friday 1 May 2026 at Casual Railway Station. A 74-year-old man was arrested by officers at a unit in Liverpool yesterday (Thursday 1 May 2026). The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with sexually touch another person without consent, common assault and wilfully interfere with comfort or safety of others. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 10 June 2026.

Acting Superintendent Scott Carr, Commander Police Transport Command North West Sector said police will relentlessly pursue individuals who engage in acts of violence and sexual offences and put them before the courts.

"The community have a right to use public transport free from violent and predatory behaviour," said Acting Superintendent Scott Carr.

"Police continue to work closely with our transport partners and employ a range of strategies to investigate and identify those responsible for endangering the community."

"The results of Operation Savete demonstrate police commitment to reducing violence, crime and fear in the community and should serve as a warning to criminals who commit violent and sexual acts on public transport."
