Police update: Man dies after town-house fire

A man has died in hospital after suffering serious burns during a fire at Kirrawee yesterday.

About 1.30am (Saturday 29 August 2020), emergency services were called to the home on Moona Road after reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze, with the home significantly damaged.

Four occupants were able to escape, however, a 54-year-old man, suffered serious burns and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.

Two women, aged 23 and 51, and a 25-year-old man were all taken to St George Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation. The older woman remains in a critical but stable condition and the others have since been released

A crime scene was established and detectives from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire.

A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
