Progress on Exeter High School redevelopment

Guy Barnett,Acting Minister for Education

Expressions of Interest issued to engage the architects for the $11 million Exeter High School re-development have opened as part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government's plan to improve education outcomes.

The redevelopment of Exeter High School will deliver contemporary new learning facilities, support spaces, amenities and specialist areas for students and staff.

In addition, an extensive community consultation process will commence on 23 August to ensure that students, staff and the local community have the opportunity to help shape the redevelopment of Exeter High School and prioritise the scope of works.

This consultation will include an online survey and workshops will be held with students, staff and the community at the school to ensure all voices are captured as part of the process.

Feedback received through the community consultation will inform the master planning and design processes so that the school is shaped by its learners, staff and the community it serves.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government recognises that education is the single most powerful driver for improving economic and social outcomes in Tasmania including health, life expectancy, happiness and productivity.

Redevelopment of Exeter High School is part of our record investment in new education infrastructure and demonstrates our strong track record of delivering on our election commitments.

The first stage of public consultation for the redevelopment of Exeter High School will be open until 24 September.
