The Western Australian Government’s $8.5 million investment to identify and prepare for a new integrated human resource (HR), payroll and rostering solution for the Western Australian health system has entered its second stage.
Following an open tender and comprehensive stage one evaluation process, Deloitte has been invited to take part in a period of proof of concept testing.
This will be conducted through a series of simulated HR and payroll activities from April to September 2021, with selected staff at Royal Perth Hospital, Broome Health Campus and Derby Hospital.
The proof of concept process will allow Deloitte to demonstrate the capabilities of their proposed system that uses HR, payroll and time management technology developed by global companies SAP SuccessFactors and UKGTM.
It will also enable WA Health to rigorously test and evaluate the system’s suitability in meeting the workforce requirements in metropolitan and regional areas.
These requirements include the ability to:
- integrate information including payroll, HR and rostering;
- provide health service providers with access to system-wide workforce data to improve reporting, governance and planning capability; and
- allow WA health system employees to conveniently access their information about their shifts, leave and pays, securely on their own devices.
Outcomes from the proof of concept will inform a future funding submission for a new Human Resources Management Information System to replace WA Health’s ageing, legacy HR, payroll and rostering systems.
Investing in a single integrated workforce system to support workforce planning across WA Health is a key recommendation of the Sustainable Health Review.
It will provide the necessary workforce data such as payroll, HR, and rostering to enable Health Service Providers to plan and better respond to the changing health needs of the WA community.
