Public comment sought on key environmental measures

NT Government

8 March 2023

The Territory Labor Government is inviting feedback on two key measures of its Circular Economy Strategy towards protecting our environment and supporting jobs.

Discussion papers, released online today, seek public comment on expanding and improving the Container Deposit Scheme, and steps to phase out Problematic Single-Use Plastics (SUPs) such as straws, plastic bags, utensils, microbeads, and expanded polystyrene (EPS) products.

These initiatives complement the NT Government's commitment to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste into a valuable resource.

A key priority of the changes is to provide certainty for industry, and consistency across all jurisdictions.
