Royal Darwin Hospital currently has a high number of very sick patients that require acute care and treatment, in addition to an increase in people presenting to the Emergency Department. This has resulted in extended wait times and the cancellation of some elective surgeries to increase capacity for emergency surgeries.
To manage the situation, a range of measures are being implemented to ease pressure and improve patient flow. These will continue to be reviewed and adapted to mitigate the situation.
If you are experiencing a health emergency, call Triple Zero (000) and ask for an ambulance.
The Palmerston Urgent Care Clinic provides urgent medical care for non-emergencies.
