Families with child/children eligible to attend three or four-year-old kindergarten in 2022 can register from today, Tuesday 25 May, 2021.

The Central Goldfields Shire Centralised Kindergarten Program will be open for enrolments until Wednesday 30 June and is for all seven kindergartens in the Shire:

  • A.G. Leech Kindergarten
  • Back Creek Kinder (Talbot)
  • Californian Gully Kindergarten
  • Dunolly Kindergarten
  • Goldfields Family Centre
  • Paisley Park Early Learning Centre
  • T.L. Stone Memorial Kindergarten

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said the program made it much simpler and more convenient for families to enrol in kindergarten.

"We're lucky enough to have seven wonderful kindergartens in our Shire and so we encourage families to contact the centres individually to help decide what option works best for their children.

"As our Paddy's Ranges Ward Councillor I'd also like to take the opportunity to encourage families outside of Talbot to consider the Back Creek Kindergarten in Talbot next year for their children.

"Unfortunately due to numbers our local kindergarten hasn't been running in recent years and it's vital to the Talbot community and crucial to the Talbot Primary School future enrolments and growth."

Paisly Park Early Learning Centre Director Hayley Ludeman said as a community we are very fortunate for our children to have the ability to access Victorian Department of Education approved kindergarten's.

"The early years in a child's development are crucial and lay the foundations for school-based learning. The new central enrolments process has been so effective in helping families discover a variety of kindergarten curriculums within their shire and to be placed in an Education Service that meets their needs and family philosophies."

It is the second year the Central Goldfields Shire has coordinated the Centralised Kindergarten Program.
