A number of residents were evacuated following a fire at a unit near Bondi Beach early this morning.
About 12.40am (Saturday 8 May 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a fire at a unit on Ramsgate Avenue.
27 residents from the unit block - along with the adjoining complex - were evacuated as a precaution and emergency accommodation was organised for them.
No one was seriously injured, and several people were treated for smoke inhalation.
A crime scene was established and officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire, however it is not believed to be suspicious.
Inquiries are continuing.
