The RETOLD project, centred on the preservation of the digital heritage of open-air archaeological museums and in which the UAB collaborates through itsCEPArq and the Department of Prehistory, has organised a meeting on the digitisation of archaeological heritage at the OpenLab of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities on 7 and 8 June. Each day there will be presentations open to the general public, but those interested must register before 2 June.

The institutions involved in the RETOLD project, funded by the Creative Europe programme, have been working since 2021 on the creation of a standardised collection, digitisation and knowledge dissemination system of the processes involved in reconstructing buildings and traditions that take place at the archaeological sites. This system must allow storing open-access data, so that museum professionals, researchers and the public in general can have access to and use these documents freely.

The meeting will be held on 7 and 8 June and will be the first on-site sessions to be held for this project. Collaborating in the organisation of this event is the UAB's CORE in Cultural Heritage.

The meeting will be an opportunity to discover and debate on the latest digitisation projects specifically for archaeological heritage, both from a research perpespective and from the need of conserving and disseminating knowledge. The presentations will be made by Nicolò dell'Unto (Lund University, Sweden), Sofia Pescarin (CNR, Italy), Héctor Orengo (Institut Català d'Arqueològica Clàssica, ICAC), Joan Anton Barceló, lecturer of the Department of Prehistory and coordinator of the official master's degree in Digital Humanities and Heritage at the UAB, and Oriol Vicente, coordinator of the UAB's CORE in Cultural Heritage. The second day will include a debate with guest speakers on different perspectives when dealing with the digitisation of archaeological heritage. After a short break, attendants will be invited to viste the UAB's OpenLabs.
