A key Separation Creek street has been given a major upgrade, with the completion of reconstruction works on Sarsfield Street delivering safer travel conditions, improved drainage and infrastructure designed to better withstand severe weather.
The project involved the reconstruction of the road pavement, replacement of damaged sections of kerb and channel, and the installation of a new 20-metre concrete stormwater pipe on the northern side of the road to improve drainage.
The works form part of Council's $7 million investment in road reconstruction across the Shire's coastal townships since 2024. The program is delivering significant upgrades to roads, drainage and related infrastructure to improve safety, accessibility and resilience for residents and visitors.
General Manager Infrastructure and Environment Doug McNeill said the completion of the Sarsfield Street project marked another important milestone in Council's ongoing investment in the coastal road network.
"Sarsfield Street is a key local road and these improvements will provide a safer and more reliable road for residents, visitors and service vehicles while also improving stormwater management in the area," Mr McNeill said.
"By replacing ageing infrastructure and upgrading drainage, we are investing in assets that will serve the community well into the future and help the road network better withstand the impacts of severe weather."
Mr McNeill said the project formed part of a broader program of road renewal works being delivered across the region and other coastal communities.
Works have recently commenced on the reconstruction of The Boulevard and Koonya Avenue in Wye River, while several additional road reconstruction projects are underway in Apollo Bay and are expected to be completed before Christmas.
Council's ongoing road reconstruction program aligns with the priorities outlined in its Asset Plan and delivers continuous investment in the Shire's sealed road network.
