Georges River Council is inviting families, schools, and science lovers of all ages to come together and celebrate National Science Week at Hurstville Library on Saturday 9 August 2025.
This year's theme, Decoding the Universe, sets the scene for a fun-filled day of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning.
The Play and Explore event will transform the library into a science playground, with a full program of interactive activities designed to ignite curiosity and inspire young minds. From launching rockets and making fossils to immersive augmented reality experiences, the event offers something for everyone.
Program highlights include:

Fizz, Bang, Pop! Science Show (10.00am – 11.15am): An exciting show by Fizzics Education packed with dazzling experiments for children aged 5-12.

Storytime Science (two sessions from 10.30am and 11.30am): Perfect for young learners aged 3-8, with stories, experiments, and imaginative play.

Fossilisation Workshop (11.30am – 12.30pm): Kids aged 8-12 can get hands-on with fossils in this fun and educational session.

Dinosaur Doings (12.45pm – 1.45pm): A lively adventure for children aged 4-10 uncovering the world of dinosaurs.
All-day drop-in activities will also be available, including an Augmented Reality Solar System Experience, Tabletop Discoveries, and a Make and Take Paper Rocket Station.
