Search warrants, two charged in Albury

Two men have been charged with weapons offences in the state’s south, NSW Police say.

About 9.45am yesterday (Thursday 26 April 2018), detectives attached to the Murray River Police District Drug Unit attended Barooga Street, North Albury, where a premise was searched and the 38-year-old man arrested for firearm and prohibited weapon offences.

Detectives seized a .22 calibre bolt action rifle, a black powder revolver, nematic spear gun (less than 45 cm in length), steroids and a ballistic vest.

He was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with 12 offences relating to the seized firearms, prohibited weapons/articles and steroids, as well as being unlicensed and safety breaches.

Subsequently, detectives also executed a search warrant at an address on Douglas Road, Lavington, where a 25-year-old man was arrested and cannabis and drug paraphernalia seized during the search of the residence.

The man was charged with seven offences relating to the seized firearms and prohibited drugs.

Both males were bail refused to appear at Albury Local Court today (Friday 27 April 2018).

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
