Seven escape house fire, NSW

Seven people have escaped a house which has been extensively damaged by fire at Dundas Valley this morning, NSW Police said.

Emergency services were called the home on Marsden Road about 12.30am today (Saturday 2 April 2016), and found the house well-alight.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers worked to extinguish the blaze, which is believed to have started in a bedroom on the top floor.

Seven people lived in the two-storey house; a 38-year-old woman sustained minor injuries after she slipped while escaping. She was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment. All other residents escaped safely.

Traffic on Marsden Road was disrupted for several hours while the fire was brought under control. The fire was extinguished about 2am.

An investigation is now underway into the cause of the fire; however, the fire is believed been started accidentally.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
