Single vehicle crash Main Road at Glenorchy

Around 4:48pm on Friday 13 November , the driver of a red Toyota FJ traveling north lost control of his vehicle on Main Road Glenorchy at the intersection of Grove Road.

The Toyota has collided softly into the rear of a grey Honda Odyssey a couple of times, causing cosmetic damage, before accelerating quickly across the incorrect side of the road. The vehicle mounted the kerb and travelled across the Caltex Woolworths forecourt before coming to a complete stop inside the shop front of 467 Main Road, Glenorchy.

The driver of the vehicle was treated on scene by members of the public, Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Police before being transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition.

The building premises was extensively damaged by the crash.

Police believe the cause of the crash was due to a medical condition.
