Skeleton discovered near Pt Lincoln, South Australia

Police at Port Lincoln are investigating after a skeleton was located in scrubland off Western Approach Rd on Wednesday (13 March).

The discovery, by two men, was reported about 11.50am, with initial police inquiries made in a bid to determine the circumstances of the death, however the matter is now not considered suspicious.

Police are making enquiries to determine if the remains are those of a man who has been missing since 1999.

Superintendent Paul Bahr, the officer in charge of the Eyre Western Local Service Area, said it would be some time before the identity of the remains could be confirmed, but the man's family had been advised of the discovery.

"Forensic response have attended the area yesterday and a report will be prepared for the Coroner," he said.
