It will be alleged the man was involved in home burglaries in the suburbs of Silver Sands, Greenfields and Furnissdale, during which two vehicles were stolen. One of the vehicles, a grey Mazda CX-5 station sedan, was allegedly taken from the driveway of a home on Riverside Drive in Furnissdale.
About 12.00pm, Monday, 23 March 2026, police observed the stolen Mazda travelling north along Mandurah Road in Secret Harbour. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens when it will be alleged the driver accelerated away, resulting in an evade police incident.
It will be further alleged the Mazda was being driven recklessly and at excessive speeds through several suburbs including Kwinana Beach, Wellard and Leda. The vehicle continued through a number of streets before being driven through a golf course and off-road into bushland at Sloane Reserve.
The Mazda experienced mechanical issues as it re-entered Fielman Drive towards Gilmore Avenue, where it entered at an intersection at low speed before the driver lost control and crashed into a pedestrian handrail opposite Rogan Park in Kwinana.
The driver fled on foot but was apprehended by officers as he attempted to climb over a fence. Police will further allege the man assaulted two detectives who were attempting to arrest him. Both officers were not seriously injured and received medical treatment at the scene.
