Premier Mark McGowan was in the South-West with Robyn Clarke MLA today to announce almost $800,000 worth of Black Spot funding to upgrade roads in the Murray-Wellington area.
In the Shire of Boddington, $434,000 has been allocated to finish upgrades to Pinjarra-Williams Road, taking the total spend to date to over $1 million. The second stage of the project will include curve widening works and sealing shoulders, as well as installing signage and safety barriers.
In the Shire of Harvey, a further $333,333 will be used to upgrade Logue Brook Dam Road. Works for this project will remove roadside hazards, seal shoulders, install signage and improve delineation.
$13,000 has also been allocated to complete the second stage of widening and sealing works, on Honeymoon Road, increasing the road width to 6 metres. Once completed the project will see roadside hazards removed, signs upgraded and improved delineation.
Since the inception of the Black Spot program in 2000, it has delivered almost a half a billion dollars in specific safety initiatives on the Western Australian road network for drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.
More than $2 billion will be invested on building, upgrading and maintaining regional roads in the McGowan Government's 2019-20 State Budget.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
"As a regular road user myself, often travelling close to a hundred kilometres a day, I know the real difference improved roads can make on the daily commute.
"The Black Spot Program means the local roads we frequent can be upgraded to improve road safety for everyone - whether they are drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists or pedestrians.
"My government is committed to delivering for the regions, and has allocated over $2 billion in the recent State Budget to upgrade, maintain and build regional roads."

"Having been a long term South West resident I know how important it is that our roads are well maintained and safe.
"This new funding will help upgrade some of our dangerous roads including the final stage of the Pinjarra-Williams Road.
