We are delivering more and better homes for Victorians who need them most.
There will be no reduction in social housing on the North Richmond Housing Estate.
When the Labor Government announced that we were committed to redeveloping the 44 public high-rise towers across inner Melbourne - providing residents with brand new homes - we committed to at least a 10% uplift in social housing on these estates.
That remains the case.
We have already built 144 new social homes under the Big Housing Build on the site opposite the high-rise estate in Elizabeth Street.
In addition, Homes Victoria has made an application to Housing Australia for funding to build an additional 187 social homes on the same side of Elizabeth Street.
There are no plans to sell land on the North Richmond Housing Estate.
We have completed or are currently delivering more than 15,000 social homes to meet the housing needs of our most vulnerable community members.
The delivery of new social housing will continue as part of our high-rise estate redevelopment program.
