Stealing And Weapons Charges, Capalaba

A man has been charged with multiple offences following an incident at a Capalaba shopping centre on 17 June.

It will be alleged around 1.30pm, a man entered a supermarket and left without paying for several items.

When loss prevention officers attempted to recover the property, the man allegedly fled the shopping centre on foot.

Police attended and established a cordon in the area before the Dog Squad was deployed.

PD Bronco tracked the man to Lyre Street around 2.30pm, where he was taken into custody.

The man sustained minor injuries and was transported to Redland Hospital for treatment before being taken into custody.

Police will further allege a machete was located inside a backpack discarded by the man during the incident.

A 20-year-old Capalaba man has been charged with two counts of possessing a knife in a public place and one count each of going armed so as to cause fear, committing a public nuisance offence in the vicinity of a licensed premises, obstructing a police officer and stealing.

He is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on 30 June.
