Strike Force Trident do not rest until they make arrest

Strike Force Trident have made several arrests yesterday in relation to property offending across the Greater Darwin Region. One instance has been on the books long after the sound of sleigh bells faded from Darwin skies.

On Christmas Day last year, a 30-year-old man allegedly unlawfully entered a church on Trower Road, causing significant damage to the entryway.

The man had been actively avoiding police, despite several attempts to arrest him.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "Early yesterday morning, Strike Force Trident located the man in Malak and arrested him without incident.

"The man has been charged in relation to his offending at the Church, but also he has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, which is in relation to two separate domestic violence incidents with his partner."

The Dog Operations Unit assisted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle yesterday.

The vehicle, believed to be one of two vehicles taken from a commercial business in Winnellie, was located in Gray. While processing the scene, four suspicious males were observed to approach the vehicle before being stopped by attending members.

The group had in their possession stolen property, including the vehicle keys to the stolen vehicle.

Det. S/Sgt Bland said, "We've had multiple successful arrests lately, thanks to the Dog Ops team. They're an invaluable asset to the agency and a big help to the Trident team."

Strike Force Trident also arrested a 15-year-old in relation to an unlawful entry at a restaurant in Darwin City and alleged shop stealing in Palmerston in early August.

Members have been actively looking for the youth when they received information that he was at an address in Gray. Police located and arrested the individual without incident. He has since been charged with a number of property offences.

Mr Bland said, "We will continue to bring justice to victims who have suffered, whether that be from not having a vehicle to drive to work the next day or simply having to stay home to have new doors installed in their homes, we're here to help out community."
