Supporting flood affected New South Wales

Jacquie Petrusma,Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management

Following the recent devastating floods in Northern New South Wales, Tasmania is pleased to again provide support personnel to assist in NSW's recovery efforts.

Two crews of 4 volunteers with training and experience in storm damage will arrive in NSW today to assist with flood intelligence, media, information and warnings.

These crews will also be supported by a Tasmanian Commander, and we thank them all for being willing to utilise their skills and experience in responding to NSW's request for assistance in flood affected areas.

Our thoughts remain with those NSW communities who are again facing flooding, just one month after catastrophic floods swamped towns.

It is hard to imagine the gravity of the situation for those residents who have been displaced from their homes once again.

Tasmania stands ready to send further support if needed.
